Lamp Building
Lately I have gotten on a lamp building kick. I have built a total of 6 lamps, 4 of which are still functioning...
In the beginning...
This was my first lamp design, this was a very rough design that I rushed to complete. I didn't yet have any real sanding equipment so I was limited in my finishing abilities. I do like the basic idea of the lamp but it needed refinement.
Double bulb lamp
This was actually my third design, however the second lamps dimensions were terrible. It was another double bulb lamp but the two bulbs were way too close to the center dimmer switch and there was no way to adjust the dimmer without touching the bulbs. So I quickly decided to trash that design, thus this lamp was born.
Utility socket lamp
This is another design that is based around the same as my first design but very obviously modified with a utility lamp socket mounted to the top of the block of wood. I really like the unique feel of this lamp, however my wife is not such a fan of this lamp.
Touch lamp
This was one that I actually made and stained last night and finished today, it is a design that I think is phenomenal due to the high tech nature of the touch dimmer but also the simplicity. This is one that I know I will be making more based around the touch dimmer design. Also this lamp is stained differently from all the other lamps so it has a more unique look that the others.
Mini me
This is my most recent design that I actually completed today. It is by far the smallest lamp that I have made, I love this little lamp but I really don't have much to say about is since its just a smaller version of my other lamps. The general size of this lamp is one that will be refined and more of them made in the future.
So that is the completion of my current addiction, lamps and the pursuit of new different designs are constantly on my mind and you will see more of them. Thanks for reading!! -Royce
